At Nash Business Systems our Managing Director Mark Nash is passionate about helping the next generation of programmers. Allowing them to gain opportunities and experiences which he could not when at school and college.
“I developed my own passion for programming in my teenage years and had to teach myself. When doing work experience from school there were no programming or IT opportunities. I felt limited to what I could learn until I finally reached the age I could go to college and university. Now that I have my own business, I am passionate to provide local students of school and college age an opportunity to come and work. This is in a system development environment to gain real experiences and to guide them with their learning.”
Working with local schools and colleges
At Nash Business Systems we have welcomed students over the last year. Developing links with local schools and HOW college. As a result, now offering placements within our Redditch based office for students of computing, marketing and business studies.
“Offering a student, a week’s placement can allow them to get a real feel about the role they are hoping to make a career from. It also allows them to get much needed real experience onto their CVs for when they are applying for jobs or for university places” explains Helen Nash – Business Development Manager at Nash Business Systems.
One young person who came on work experience to us continued over the summer. As a result allowing him to gain real day to day experiences over a prolonged time period. Jack learnt on the job skills and other useful skills his future employers will be looking for. He explains “I learnt many things working at Nash Business Systems. Whether that was simple web design, or how to work as a team and become more confident. The team there are a true family and are always looking for ways to help their customers and team members, as much as possible. I won’t forget my time there”.
Working with young people
Mark has also worked with RSA Academy Arrow Vale taking part in Mock Interviews. These allow students to have a mock interview with a local employer. Many young people will never have had an interview when they reach 16. The Director of learning standards who organised the event said that such an experience had boosted confidence for the students who had taken part.
Offering opportunities to students of HOW College has allowed real working environment experience to them. Jackie White placements officer states “Mark Nash – of Nash Business Systems is one of our valuable employers. Heart of Worcestershire College work very closely with him. Employ-ability Skills and Work Experience Placements are vital for all our students to prepare them for their future careers beyond their college studies. Therefore employers such as Nash Business Systems provide quality work placements for them”
Mark is an ex student and he himself went out on work placement with college and now he offers both IT and Business placements within his business. Mark has also addressed our students as a guest speaker giving an insight into his business and how he developed his early career after leaving further education.”
